Dr Guy Skinner is a private obstetrician that provides exceptional medical care to his patients. If you are a private patient wanting to deliver your baby in Melbourne, it’s important to know that the fees for your obstetrician are not covered by your private health fund. You will therefore need to be prepared to incur additional costs.
There will be an out of pocket expense, however, some of your payments may be partially claimable for a Medicare rebate. The amount of this claimable portion will just depend on your circumstances and you may have to check this with the provider.
Out of pocket expenses
You will find that your total out of pocket expenses will vary depending on which maternity program you choose (Maternity One or Maternity Plus). We will be able to help advise you on which program will be most suited to your needs and circumstance. You can read more about our different programs here.
The costs of your hospital accommodation and delivery charges are considered a separate expense and should be largely covered by your health fund. This does, however, depend on your level of cover so you should double check what health cover you are on and if it covers pregnancy. Pathology, ultrasound, or additional specialists needed will be an additional fee, and this will depend on the different services you may need throughout the duration of your pregnancy.
If you are an international patient, depending on your Medicare eligibility and overseas insurance fund, the costs you will incur will also vary. We will try our best to help you with determining the most suitable option for your situation.
