When it comes to our private obstetrician fees, it is important to know how it works and what it covers. If you are an Australian citizen and have Medicare, are privately insured with obstetric cover on your private health insurance and you are wanting to deliver your baby in Melbourne, the out of pocket obstetric fees are not covered by your private health fund. Your private health insurance covers your Hospital stay and that of your baby. However, some of the out of pocket fees may be partially claimed by a Medicare rebate (for patients with valid Medicare card). Your out of pocket expenses, will vary depending on which of our programs you choose. Fees for additional specialists such as anaesthetists and paediatricians are not covered in your out-of-pocket costs from Dr Skinner. These costs will be billed separately by the individual specialist.
